You must show proof of funds around NZD 20,000 for visa purposes.

Work While Studying

  • Students can work up to 20 hours per week during semesters
  • Full-time work allowed during scheduled breaks
  • Part-time jobs pay approx. NZD 21 – 25/hour

Students with research master’s or PhD programs can work full-time at any time.

Post-Study Work Rights

  • After completing a qualification at Level 7 or above, students can apply for a Post-Study Work Visa
  • Duration: 1 to 3 years, depending on the level and location of study
  • Allows full-time work in any field and gives time to find a job related to the qualification

Pathway to Permanent Residency (PR)

  • After post-study work and gaining relevant job experience, students may qualify for:
    • Skilled Migrant Category (SMC)
    • Points-based system with criteria like age, qualification, work experience, job offer
  • Proficiency in English and a full-time job offer are key requirements
